General

Multi-institutional cooperation is of great importance when combating radicalisation in prisons as well as as a key precondition for successful reintegration of violent extremis prisoners (VEPs) back into the society therefore the action is singing grant agreements with each Beneficiary for the organisation of local inter-agency coordination forums on enhancing the management and reintegration of VEPs. The responsibility to prevent extremist offending, manage extremist offenders and integrate them successfully into society is not just the responsibility of correctional services, but of various agencies and organisations.

To enhance the knowledge of prison and probation staff on Council of Europe and international standards, as well as ways to combat radicalisation in prisons the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Radicalisation Prevention course was adapted to the local circumstances of each beneficiary. Following the adaptation, the course will be launched in each beneficiary with the participation of prison and probation staff.
